The Crown Races Might Be Offsite for One Year, But “Claiming” Still Proves a Big Part of Canterbury’s Fame

In the first 11 days of Canterbury Park’s 2007 season, 22 horses have been claimed. This claiming fever might mark the season as one of the most active in Canterbury Park’s history.

One trainer alone lost four horses to claims over the Memorial Day weekend. Jerry and Marilyn Myers’ Jer-Mar Stables took four of Jamie Ness’s charges, reassigning them to their man, Mac Robertson.
