Crispin watch: Chasing a record

Jockey Joe Crispin notched nine wins over the past three days in his march toward setting a new Portland Meadows riding record.

Crispin, who is pursuing Gary Stevensís record of winning 126 Thoroughbred races in a season, narrowed the gap by five on Sunday, when he won on each of his Thoroughbred mounts. Monday was a bit frustrating for Crispin, who added one win but could only manage second place on five others. On Tuesday, he won the final three races on the card.

Racing resumes on Monday at the Northwest oval. Jockeys get Sunday, usually a race day, off to watch the Super Bowl.
