AQHA, Amarillo, TX (October 12, 2006) — The awaited showdown between Go Man Go Handicap (G1) winner Be A Bono and Mildred Vessels Handicap winner (G1) ApolliticalSaturday Time will occur in the $200,000 Los Alamitos Championship (G1) on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

Be A Bono (Bono Jazz-Be Peacefull by Raise A Secret) and Apollitical Time (Apollo (TB)-Half Time Attraction by First Down Dash) are each champions and each coming off Grade 1 victories.

Spencer Childers’ homebred Be A Bono, the 2004 world champion, could be on track for another world title with three consecutive Grade 1 wins coming into the Los Alamitos Championship. The Dan Francisco-trained gelding won the Vessels Maturity and the Spencer Childers California Breeders’ Championship by daylight margins and then rallied with a rush to narrowly take the Go Man Go in his most recent start.

Juan Alberto Lizarraga Tirado’s Apollitical Time, the 2005 champion 3-year-old filly, is also riding a three-stakes-race winning streak. The Juan Aleman-trained mare narrowly won the California Breeders Matron Stakes and then turned in a near-historic victory in the MBNA America® California Challenge Championship when she raced the 440 yards in :21.189, just .01 off Dash For Cash’s three-decade-old track record.
