Weekdays are Fun Days during Fall Zia Park Meet

HOBBS, New Mexico (Sept. 13, 2006) – If you have a dollar or are 55 or older then Mondays and Tuesdays during the upcoming Zia Park racing season are your special days.

The 49-date fall season at Zia Park starts on Saturday, Sept. 23 with a lapel pin giveaway on opening day. Racing runs on a Saturday through Tuesday schedule until closing day, December 12. There will be a special November 24 racing card on Thanksgiving weekend.

Highlighting the opening weekend action on the track will be Quarter Horses in the $60,000 James Issac Hobbs Stakes on Saturday and Thoroughbreds sprinting six furlongs in the $150,000-added Premiere Stakes on Sunday.

Then on Monday and Tuesday the meet-long weekday specials begin.

Every Monday, is “55 Plus Day” with all fans 55-years old and older receiving a program for one dollar, 50-percent off the lunch buffet and the chance to win $100 of free slot play after the races in the adjoining Black Gold Casino.

On Tuesdays one dollar goes long way with “Dollar Days.” For just one dollar fans can get a hot dog, a program and $1 off Bud and Bud Light.

Other fun promotions back for the second year of racing at Zia Park include Hobbs America Day on Sunday, October 15 and the Weiner Dog & Chihuahua Races on Saturday, October 21.

First post time is 1 p.m. with free parking and free grandstand admission.
