EDMONTON, AB - - Horse Racing Alberta and White Iron Productions (Digital) have won the Gold Award in the Small Market (broadcast shows with 2 million or less viewers) category of the Broadcast Design Association (BDA) Awards. These were announced last night in New York City at the annual PROMAX/BDA conference. PROMAX is the world’s leading association of promotion and marketing professionals in electronic media.

This award was presented for the show opening introductory segment of the 2003 series of televised Alberta horse races including the Alberta Derby, Western Canada Pacing Derby, Canadian Derby and the Nat Christie Memorial Stake.

“In partnership with White Iron Productions, we been able to capture the excitement and athleticism of our sport and encourage people to stay tuned to watch the races unfold,” stated Dr. David C. Reid, Chairman for Horse Racing Alberta. “We are honoured to have received such high North American-wide praise for our work by winning this prestigious broadcasting award.”

The competition encompasses 95 categories in all mediums such as print, television, radio and web design. The Broadcast Design Association accepted over 3,700 entries from across North America, representing all major industries which use broadcasting as a communications medium.
