Les Bois Park, Boise, ID (July 13) - With a little more than a month to go in this 2006 racing season, Capitol Racing turns up the heat during hot July evenings with two Stakes races and Gary Stevens highlighting the action this week.

Highlighting Friday's races is the American Quarter Horse Association's Northwest Red Cell Distance Challenge. Eight eligible Quarter Horses, three-years & older, will contest this event as seven separate betting interests over 870 yards for a purse in excess of $15,000. The entries include Lels Leap Of Faith, Rachies Hi O Silver, Runbyu, Strawflyin Moosebuds, Cashin Sam, Snoway Hozay, Bedazoom and Frank Floyd Wright.

Three horses to note; Runbyu, a seven-year-old with the highest career earnings of $80,894; Strawflyin Moosebuds, a four-year-old sporting two wins in that many starts this season at Les Bois; and Bedazoom, another four-year-old, shipping in to Les Bois with two victories back in April at Sun Downs, Washington. This shapes up to be a very contentious event.

Saturday night offers both "The Ginger Welch Stakes" for Thoroughbred fillies and mares that are three-years and older and a special night honoring hometown favorite, Gary Stevens.

The Ginger Welch carries a $5,000 Added purse and will be run over seven furlongs.

Also on Saturday, "Hall of Fame" jockey Gary Stevens' returns to Les Bois Park to be honored by Capitol Racing. Gary, now a racing analyst for NBC Sports, has received many honors over his very distinguished career in racing.

Earlier this week on Monday, Idaho Governor, Jim Risch proclaimed this week Gary Stevens' Week in Idaho. Gary a native of Caldwell will be at Les Bois Park on Saturday to receive several awards and to meet and greet our racing fans. Be sure to join us to celebrate Gary's "Evening-At-The-Races."
