The State Fair Race Meet in Great Falls, Montana is readying for the upcoming live racing season which begins July 15 and 16 and continues on weekends for a total of seven live dates. Dates include opening weekend and July 22, 23, and the weekend of July 28, 29 and 30.

The track is offering its traditional menu of stakes races for Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses and Paints. Bill Ogg, Director of Racing and ExpoPark Manager, said in mid-June that some of the stakes races had fewer nominations at this point than last season, but all the races had enough nominations to run. A number of the races are at the same nomination level as last yearís stakes.

Ogg said that President Dick Forster of the Horsemenís Benevolent and Protective Association has communicated that the HBPA is willing to cover the cost of stall rents for the race meet in July.
