Auburn, WA - Nominations for the 11th running of the Washington State Legislators Stakes closed on Saturday, June 3, with 12 fillies and mares, three-year-olds and up, eyeing a spot in the starting gate for the 6 -furlong affair. The stakes runs Sunday, June 11.

Kissntheboysgoodby, the winner of the Hastings Park Handicap, tops the list of potential starters.

Owned by Dean Essex and trained by his son Charlie, Kissntheboysgoodby has won three consecutive races, with four wins from five starts on the year. She has earned over $58,000 in her career with $34,100 of that coming in her two starts at Emerald Downs. Her victory in the Hastings Park was the first stakes win of her career, and the daughter of Tropic Lightning has won a race at five different distances. She has yet to compete at 6 -furlongs, the distance of the Washington State Legislators Stakes.

Trainer Bob Meeking has nominated Karis Makaw to the $40,000 Washington State Legislators Stakes. Last year's Top Older Filly or Mare, Karis Makaw, has made two starts in 2006. She finished fifth in her seasonal debut, and most recently crossed the wire second in the Hastings Park Handicap. That race came at 6-furlongs, and the added distance of the Washington State Legislators Stakes may work in her favor.

The top 3-year-old filly at the meet has been Diamond Dollars, who was a 10-length winner of the Federal Way Handicap May 28. Off that performance, trainer Bill Tollett has nominated the daughter of Stravinsky to the Washington State Legislators Stakes. Claimed for $12,500 out of a maiden race at Sunland Park in April, Diamond Dollars has won both of her starts at Emerald Downs, scoring by a combined 17-lengths. The filly has amassed $31,769 in earnings, with $29,805 of that coming for her current ownership of K J Star Stable.

Trainer Tim McCanna has nominated a pair of 4-year-old fillies to the Washington State Legislators Stakes, Queenledo and Gins Majesty. Queenledo exits a fourth-place finish in the Hastings Park Handicap where she failed as the $2.10-1 favorite. Gins Majesty finished fifth in the Hastings Park, but her best races may come beyond the 6-furlong distance of that event.
