Los Alamitos Thoroughbred purses raised 10 to 12 percent effective June 1

Los Alamitos Race Course, CA - Effective immediately, purses for Thoroughbreds racing at Los Alamitos have been increased 10 to 12 percent. Horses competing in the higher class levels will enjoy a 12 percent hike, while horses racing in lower levels will benefit from a 10 percent increase.

Based on a 10-horse field, an open race for $5,000 claimers will feature a $10,750 purse. A field of 10 horses racing in an open $2,500 test will race for a $7,050 purse. Based on a 10-horse field, conditioned races for $2,000 claimers and maiden events for $2,500 claimers will feature a $6,460 purse.

"Los Alamitos is a great place to race hard-knocking Thoroughbreds," said Ron Church, the racing secretary at Los Alamitos.

Thursday's eight race program will be headed by Moonshiner Handicap runner-up Classic Cleat, as he goes in search of his third win at 870 yards in the sixth race. The Appy He Roves, a winner of more than $80,000 in his career will also race.

Ed Allred will send out two-well bred sprinters on Thursday. The fourth race will feature Look Her Over, a Check Him Out filly out of Oh La Proud. The latter is the dam of champions Hawkish and Hawkinson. In the second race, Allred s Gentlemanly will debut. He is a Separatist colt out of the stakes producing mare Meadow Dew.
