THE INTERNET GAMBLING PROHIBITION ACT
AQHA - On May 25, 2006, the House Judiciary Committee will begin consideration of The Internet Gambling Prohibition Act (H.R. 4777). Encourage your legislators to SUPPORT H.R. 4777 AS IT IS CURRENTLY WRITTEN.

H.R. 4777 will declare offshore Internet gambling sites illegal while preserving the rights of the horse racing industry currently outlined in the Interstate Horse Racing Act. Offshore Internet gambling sites damage our racing industry due to the fact that none of the money collected by offshore gamers is used to develop purses or improve horse racing facilities. However, in developing legislation to outlaw the offshore Internet gambling sites, the language must be crafted so as to continue to allow legal Internet gaming in the states that is currently in place. Therefore, an exemption must be included in the bill to permit legal, currently authorized Internet gaming to continue to be available. H.R. 4777 has this exemption for horseracing and it is important to stress that this exemption must be maintained until the legislation is passed.

Please go to: www.aqha.com/email/hr4777.html and
fill out the letter (requires Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher) and print, or draft your own, and fax it to your representative in the House and both your Senators. To obtain contact information for your congressmen/women, click the link at the AQHA website and enter your 9 digit zip code under Congress & President, and then click go.

It is important to let Congress know the importance of this legislation as well as the need to keep the horse racing exemption. Please call or fax your congressional representatives as soon as possible.
