Advance wagering on Derby available at Emerald Downs

Auburn, WA - Wagering on the entire Churchill Downs Kentucky Derby Day card will be available on Friday, May 5, at Emerald Downs and all satellite wagering facilities in Washington, during regular operating hours. A complimentary program for the Saturday, May 6, Churchill Downs races will be available at Customer Services at Emerald Downs and at all satellite locations on Friday.

May 6 Post Time moved to 1:30 p.m.
In order to make up for lost races from last Saturday's cancellation, Emerald Downs will add an additional race to its Saturday, May 6, program. To accommodate the additional event, along with the simulcast of the 132nd running of the Kentucky Derby, Saturday's post-time for the scheduled 11-race card has been pushed forward a half-hour to 1:30pm.

Emerald Downs officials plan to run an extra race each day this weekend in order to help offset the loss of last Saturday's cancelled program. Post-time for Friday evening's nine-race program remains at 6:00 p.m., with the first race on Sunday still scheduled to break from the gate at 2:00 p.m.

Fifth Annual Truly Fabulous Hat Contest
Anyone wearing a decorative hat will receive free admission to Emerald Downs on Kentucky Derby Day, Saturday, May 6. Fans with the most creative and innovative hats will walk away with cash prizes, including $500 for Best in Show. In addition, a $100 prize will be awarded in the following categories: Best Racing Theme, Most Glamorous, Funniest/Most Outrageous, and a Special Category just for kids.

Emerald Downs is celebrating its 10th anniversary season with a 91-day racing meet from Friday, Apr. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 1. The centerpiece of the 2006 season is the 71st running of the Grade III $250,000 Longacres Mile to be held on Sunday, August 20. For more information please visit
