First meeting of Montana Task Force

The recently formed Montana Horse Racing Task Force will conduct its first meeting May 9 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Supreme Court chambers, third floor of the State Capitol building in Helena.

Governor Brian Schweitzer announced the Task Force on April 21 with the purpose of
examining the current situation and future trends of horse racing in Montana. The Task Force will advise the Office of Economic Development as to whether specific measures could be undertaken to revitalize Montana’s horse racing industry.

Appointed members of the Horse Racing Task Force are as follows: Dale Mahlum, Missoula (Chair); Joe Birdrattler, Browning; Ben Carlson, Billings; Sherry Meador, Clancy; Shawn Real Bird, Garryowen; Bill Schmitt, Great Falls; Ron Thiebert, Kalispell;
John Tooke, Miles City; and Topper Tracy, Stevensville.

All members are public representatives and all terms end December 31, 2006, with the termination of the Task Force.
