UNDEFEATED STAR HAS PERFECT CHANCE TO SHINE
Hall of Fame owner/breeder Spencer Childers could have the unique privilege of winning a stakes named in his honor of Champions Night, as his undefeated superstar Be A Bono could make his return to racing in the 400-yard Spencer Childers Handicap. A perfect six for six in his lifetime, Be A Bono has won two Grade 1 stakes races in his career. He was the winner of the Golden State Futurity last year before returning to win the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby this year. Be A Bonoís victory in the $865,000 Golden State gave Childers the richest win in his 50 plus years in Quarter Horse racing.

Be A Bono is the only sophomore among the 11 horses nominated to the Spencer Childers. Chiarascuro, the winner of the MBNA America California Challenge Championship, Deefirst, last yearís Southern California Derby winner, and Sum Special Strawfly, last yearís El Primero Del Ano Derby winner, have also been nominated to this race.

Be A Bono is one of 12 horses in the Jens L. List Jr. Memorial California Breeders Stakes for 3-year-olds. Named in honor of one of the sportís great breeders and owners, the Jens L. List has lured multiple stakes winners He Could Be The One and Jabonerita Chicks. He Could Be The One will be the sentimental choice, as he is races for Listís Double Bar S Ranch.
