Qualifiers set for April 30 Portland Meadows Futurity

Portland, OR –A total of 10 Quarter Horse finalists for the $28,550 Portland Meadows Futurity have earmarked April 30 on their calendars, seeking to be the first Oregon Quarter Horse Racing Triple Crown winner and the $100,000 cash bonus that goes with said distinction.

Each dash, worth $2,400 guaranteed and run at 300 yards, saw the first two finishers make it to the final, along with the third and fourth place finishers in heat four.

Mt. View Farms LLC Chick N Dales Dancer captured the opener in 16.12 seconds under Aaron Shaw for trainer Jim Glenn, Jr.
Dashing Reckless, one of three horses’ trainer Scott Raley qualified for the Final, was second in 16.20 seconds.

In the second event of the day, Glenn did it again, this time with the Jackie Phillips owned Hot Properties in 16.39.

She Surfs, owned and trained by Ron Raley, was second in the same time, with barely a nose separating them at the wire.
The fastest qualifying event of the day was in the third race when trainer Scott Raley sent Gary Chumbley’s EZ Speedy Leader to post. In 16.07 seconds, they crossed under the wire a winner with Glenn’s Eyelash second in 16.26.

In the fourth and final trial of the day, it was Bob Beckner’s trainee, Be First Rose, who won in 16.27 seconds.

The Scott Raley owned and trained CPR First sail was second in 16.40 with Glenn’s Slogan up for third in 16.41 and Lee Markholt’s Royal Time Bunny fourth in 16.43.
