Auburn, Wash. (April 14) - Nominations for the $40,000 U.S. Bank Stakes closed on Friday, April 14th, with 13 sophomore fillies eyeing a spot in the starting gate for the opening weekend feature at Emerald Downs.

Heading the list of nominees is Chestnut Lady, the Emerald Downs 2005 Champion Juvenile Filly. The daughter of Horse Chestnut was a two-time winner in Auburn last year including a win in the Barbara Shinpoch Stakes, the premier race for the two-year-old filly division.

Owned by Michael and Amy Feuerborn, the Jim Penney trainee has not started since a tenth-place run in the $100,000 Gottstein Futurity on October 15th while facing male rivals.

Trainer Tom Wenzel has nominated The Case Queen to the U.S. Bank Stakes. The daughter of Gold Case won the first two starts of her career, both at Emerald Downs, by a combined 14-lengths before racing to an even fourth-place finish in the Barbara Shinpoch when stretching out around two-turns for the first time.

Also nominated to the U.S. Bank Stakes on Friday was She's All Silk, another two-time winner at the meet last year. The Washington-bred daughter of Delineator broke her maiden for a $40,000 tag on August 13, and returned later in the season for an allowance victory on October 14. She also contested the Barbara Shinpoch where she finished
third, beaten less than two-lengths by Chestnut Lady.
