11 Invited to Sea Champagne Handicap

PORTLAND, OR – A group of 11 fillies and mares, aged four and up, have been invited to Saturday afternoon’s (March 11) Sea Champagne Invitational Handicap at a distance of a flat mile at Portland Meadows.

East coast invader Helen’s Startax drew the highweight of 123 pounds.

Owned by Erik Amile and Jerry Hollendorfer and trained by Tom Roberts, the 5-year-old daughter of Artax is 3-3-3 from 17 career starts with $87,595 earned while racing predominantly at Delaware Park.

Local multiple stakes winner Chancy Chancy, who runs for Dave and Patricia Runyon, is weighted second highest at 122 lbs.

Chancy Chancy strung together a pair of wins this meet including the Solda Holme Invitational Handicap before most recently finishing off the board in the Sweetheart Handicap, a 6-furlong test. Chancy Chancy has won 10 races in her career, but more notably, seven of them have been at the Sea Champagne distance of 1-mile.
