Horse Racing Alberta announces live racing schedule for 2006

Edmonton – Horse Racing Alberta (HRA) today announced the live racing schedule for 2006.

There will be a total of 119 thoroughbred racing days and 140 standardbred racing days as follows:
Northlands Park in Edmonton was awarded a total of 151 days of racing; 72 thoroughbred days from June 23 to October 22, and 79 standardbred days from February 24 to June 18 and from November 17 to December 16. The live racing schedule will be similar to 2005.

Stampede Park in Calgary was awarded a total of 108 days of racing; 47 thoroughbred racing days from March 31 to June 18, and 61 standardbred racing days from July 28 to November 12. The live racing schedule will be similar to 2005.

There will be a total of 87 community circuit race days as follows:
Rocky Mountain Turf Club in Lethbridge was awarded 50 days of runners. They will run from May 6 to July 2 and September 2 to November 5 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, plus three long weekend Mondays (May 22nd, September 4th and October 9th).

Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie was awarded 36 days of racing; 21 days of mixed racing from July 7 to August 20 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 15 days of harness racing from June 23 to July 23 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.

Millarville will continue with their traditional Canada Day races on Saturday, July 1st.

Reid, Chairman of Horse Racing Alberta. “It’s the culmination of a great deal of work in conjunction with the tracks and the horsemen, all of whom should be commended for their efforts. 2006 is going to be another year of great racing.”
