MBNA America® Challenge Championships Drawing Near

Los Alamitos Race Course is set to host the championship weekend of American Quarter Horse racing’s richest program
 
Amarillo, Texas, October 21, 2005 – The 13th running of the MBNA America® Challenge Championships is less than two weeks away, and the stage is set for steep competition that includes 440-yard world record holder A Long Goodbye, multiple Graded Stakes winners Catchmeinyourdreams and Mini Rock, and MBNA America Challenge Championship defending winner SLM Snowman. The 2005 MBNA America Challenge Championships will be held at Los Alamitos Race Course on Saturday, November 5.

The MBNA America Racing Challenge is American Quarter Horse racing’s richest program. A total of 71 races take place in 10 regions across the United States, Canada and Mexico throughout the year. American Quarter Horses compete in one of six different types of races, depending on their age and ability.

The championship weekend marks the end of racing season with a total of six championship events and seven undercard races where MBNA Challenge enrolled horses are preferred for entry.

The MBNA America Racing Challenge is a $5 million purse and bonus awards program, of which more than 60 percent is added money from AQHA Corporate Partners and host racetracks.

The MBNA America Challenge Championships, with five Grade 1 stakes and over $1.1 million in purses, will be televised live to more than 50 million households on
Saturday night.

TVG and Fox Sports Net will offer live coverage of the 2005 MBNA America Challenge Championships at Los Alamitos Race Course on Saturday, November 5.

The televised Challenge festivities will get underway on TVG at 8 a.m. (Pacific) with the first-ever MBNA America Challenge Championships Preview Show. Handicapper extraordinaire Ed Burgart will host this 30-minute show, which also will feature interviews with American Quarter Horse owners, trainers and jockeys involved in the MBNA America Challenge Championships.
