Afleet Alex out of Breeders’ Cup

Oct. 11 - Although Afleet Alex was recently cleared for speed work and responded impressively in two separate workouts, his summer injury was radiographed following the latest work to determine if the healing process on his left front ankle, which suffered a hairline condylar fracture, was 100 percent complete.

Since it was determined that the fracture has not healed 100 percent, even though it is very close, the horse will not race this weekend as previously considered, and is no longer in contention for the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Afleet Alex team is committed to 100 percent recovery before he races again.

In spite of the news sure to disappoint racing fans, Afleet Alex remains in training and the prognosis for a return to his former elite level of racing remains strong.
