Douglas,WY – Nearly sixty horses, representing some of the finest bloodlines in the Quarter Horse industry, will sell at the Speed Horse Sale to be held at the CAM-PLEX in Gillette, WY, on Saturday, September 17.

South Dakota auctioneer Alan Odden will gavel the sale open at 7:00 p.m. according to Barb Daniels of Spear Cross Productions, LLC, sale managers. The Wyoming All Breeds Racing Association-sponsored sale is held in conjunction with the annual Fizz Bomb Classic, a barrel and pole-bending extravaganza which has been drawing hundreds of competitors to Gillette for over 23 years.

The sale will follow a 5:00 p.m. preview at which consignors from six states will showcase their horses. In its third year, the sale was the dream of well-known northeast Wyoming horseman and banker, Ray Wardell, who died not long after the inaugural sale.

“Each year we see more prominent bloodlines and this year we have some really outstanding performance horses consigned,” said Lee Fields of Spear Cross Productions. “The increasing number of horses, and the quality, are both tributes to the idea of a sale which focuses on speed-bred performance horses. Not only are there are some outstanding broodmares, yearling and weanling prospects, we also have a proven stallion by First Down Dash, a proven finished barrel and heading horse, and another experienced arena horse that has carried three different family members to the winner circle numerous times.”

There are also a variety of two and three-year-olds, several of which are well started and ready to learn more about specialties like team roping, barrel racing, and team penning.

As Bob Daniels of Spear Cross Productions says, “It doesn’t matter what you do horseback, if you want to know going in that you have a horse under you that will be quick and competitive, this sale is the place to start. The bloodlines offered at this sale represent the best in barrel race sires, as well as race sires in general. If you compete in a timed event, this sale is the right starting place for finding world class-quality competition horses.”

Many of the horses being sold are eligible for futurities, such as the Bold Heart, Future Fortunes, Sunrise, and Five State Barrel Futurities and race futurities like the Diamond Classic and MBNA Racing Challenge, as well as other stallion incentive programs.
