Boise - The Board of Ada County Commissioners announced on July 16 that Capitol Racing was selected to conduct live racing and simulcast race events at Les Bois Park in Boise during this year's Western Idaho Fair. Capitol Racing will be the operator to conduct the live horse racing on August 26, 27, and 28 and simulcasting at Les Bois Park Turf Club from August 15-31.

“Capitol Racing has demonstrated their expertise and commitment to ongoing racing in the Treasure Valley,” said Commission Chairman Rick Yzaguirre. “We are very pleased to be able to offer live horse racing and simulcasting this year during the fair. Racing will be a welcome addition to all of the many activities people enjoy at the fair.”

For the price of regular Fair admission, visitors are able to watch live racing on August 26, 27 and 28. In addition, from August 15-31, simulcasting will be offered at the Les Bois Park Turf Club. Alcohol and food will be served during the live racing and at the Turf Club during simulcasting.

Ada County retains operational control of Les Bois Park for at least 17 days during the Western Idaho Fair. Lariat Productions has agreed to allow Ada County to gain possession of Les Bois Park beginning August 1. The Western Idaho Fair will attempt to work with Capitol Racing to operate simulcasting beginning as soon as possible after August 1.

Capitol Racing must obtain all required licenses from the Idaho State Racing Commission, carry insurance and conduct all necessary clean-up.

Trials for stakes races to be run during the three-day live meet will be held at the track on August 15. There will be no pari-mutuel betting during the trial races.
