LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA.... Cyndee Duke and Roger Wynn's Takin Cash Bac continued his sizzling form at 870 yards by posting the fastest qualifying time to the $74,750 Gold Rush Derby on Thursday at Los Alamitos. Seventeen runners competed in the three 870-yard trials with the horses with the 10 fastest times returning for the Grade 3 final on May 27.

Ridden by Saul Ramirez for trainer Paul Jones, Takin Cash Bac improved to a perfect three for three around the turn following his 3 1/2 length win in the trials. Takin Cash Bac covered the distance in :44.88 - more than a 1/2 second faster than second fastest qualifier and stablemate A Dash Of Gandora.

A two-time winner in straightaway races, Takin Cash Bac began his distance career with a four length triumph on March 24. He then outdueled A Dash Of Gandora by 3 1/2 lengths on April 14 before his easy victory in the trials.

Takin Cash Bac's outstanding form comes as no surprise to his owners. After all, the Takin On The Cash gelding has similar bloodlines to that of multiple stakes winner Available Credit. Splash Bac can be found in both of their pedigrees. He is the sire of Available Credit and the sire of Takin Cash Bac's dam, Easy Strawfly.
By the way, Duke and Wynn also own and raced Available Credit.

Oakcrest Stable and Vessels Stallion Farm LLC's A Dash Of Gandora posted the second fastest time of :45.47 after winning the third and final heat. Nancy Dixon and Kathleen Fahey's Breakers won the other trial by 2 3/4 lengths over Calyx Handicap winner Tristans Boot. The complete list of qualifiers is as follows; Takin Cash Bac (:44.88), A Dash Of Gandora (:45.47), Boot N It (:45.53), She Doesnt Dance (:45.56), Swissle Stick (:45.685), Jazzing Chad (:45.72), Breakers (:45.91), and Tristans Boot (:46.44).
