Canterbury Park schedules spectacular in advance of recess

With Canterbury Park's mid-summer recess looming, the Shakopee, Minnesota, racetrack has scheduled special race days for both Monday, July 3, and Independence Day, July  4.

Fireworks Spectacular, July 3: Enjoy live racing this Monday at a special 4:00 p.m. post time. Plus, family day activities that include face painting, pony rides and petting zoo. Following racing, dance to live music by Maiden Dixie until the fireworks start! Once it gets dark, watch one of the best fireworks displays around. Eighty-nine horses are entered in 11 races, which include two stakes: the $50K Princess Elaine Stakes and the $50K Blair's Cove Stakes.

Independence Day, July 4: Grab the family for a day of celebration! The wiener dog warm-up race is back again this year including all your favorite dachshunds from past races. Plus, a corgi dog warm-up race. The day wouldn’t be complete without free Hormel hot dogs and our annual hot dog eating contest.
