. . . also proactively cancels two days for frigid weather.

Portland Meadows General Manager KarstenHennze, Racing Secretary Jerry Kohls, and Oregon HBPA Executive Director Randy Evers met with the Oregon Racing Commission on Friday, December 30, to revise the schedule for the track's 2016-17 closing days.

The group agreed to the following changes to the schedule:

Two live race days have been cancelled—Monday, January 2, and Tuesday, January 3. The decision to cancel these days was easy in light of forecasted frigid conditions. Temperatures are expected to drop below the freezing point on Sunday night and remain below freezing throughout the week.

In consideration of these two cancelled race days and two previously cancelled December race days, the live racing season has been extended by two weeks. Portland Meadows now plans to conduct racing on Monday, January 9; Tuesday, January 10; Sunday, January 15; and Tuesday, January 17.

Live racing is scheduled for New Year's Day Sunday, January 1. The race card includes 56 horses in eight races.

Posttime for each race day will be 12pm (noon PST) at Portland Meadows.
