Idaho Thoroughbred Association—A horsemen’s meeting was held at the Doubletree Riverside on Friday, April 22. Steve Bieri and Alan Horowitz of Capitol Racing set up the meeting to discuss the issues with the horsemen. It is very unlikely that racing at Les Bois Park will begin May 7.

A meeting is tentatively set for May 30 or 4 between Capitol Racing and the horsemen’s groups to put a plan together—whether it is feasible to run at Idaho Falls, or other options. ITA will keep its horsemen informed of the details of the meetings. Les Bois Park is currently being maintained daily by Capitol Racing and horses are still able to train.

The April ITA Hoofbeats newsletter reprinted an article from the Idaho Statesman regarding the April 22 meeting and what occurred. The Statesman reported that Capitol Racing said about two weeks is needed to see if running in Idaho Falls is a good option.

The Idaho Statesman also reported a list of four possible options posed by Capitol Racing:

*Wait for the courts to sort out the lease issue with Lariat and delay the racing season until it is solved;

*Cancel the entire season and start planning for next season;

*Use a window of dates during the Western Idaho Fair when Lariat, by lease, must vacate the premises;

*Start racing in Idaho Falls and return to Les Bois Park once the courts decide.
Meanwhile, the Idaho Racing Commission met with horsemen on Wednesday, April 27 to provide information about the current situation with Les Bois Park. At the meeting, representatives of Lariat Productions made a public statement that they have recently received expressed interest from other groups about purchasing the lease to operate the race park.
