Portland Meadows hosts The $31,850 Far West Futurity at a distance of 350 yards in the fourth race on Monday, October 24. A full field of ten is expected to compete.

L Bar D Genuine Red turned in the best time of the trials with a :18:023 clocking for the 350-yard test over a sloppy surface. Owned by Hillary Durham and Trained by Bob Beckner, the young son of Genuine Strawfly put more than two lengths between himself and the nearest rival in the qualifying round. L Bar D Genuine Red brings his strong credentials into The Far West after racking up two trial wins, a near miss in the $32K Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass Downs (where he was beaten by just a nose by Henry Craig), and a game third in The $29K Pot O’ Gold Futurity at Sun Downs.

Kassie Guglielmino will once again guide the promising juvenile in The Far West Futurity from the inside post. L Bar D Genuine Red was in Oregon by Linda and Darrell Sanders.

Here’s Tina’s Boy and CM Woody Blue were respective winners in their trial events and will carry the role of main rivals in the final.
