Idaho Cup Day boasts highest purses of season at Les Bois Park; Saturday’s Idaho Cup is first of only three days remaining in 2014 season

The highest purses of the season are waiting in the winner’s circle on Saturday as Les Bois Park hosts the exciting Idaho Cup Day. Top Idaho bred Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses will compete for purses totaling over $240,000! Post time 5:30 p.m.; gates open at 4:00 p.m.

Idaho Cup Day is a long-standing tradition at Les Bois Park. “We have a very talented, all-Idaho field running this year; the competition is strong and so are the winnings. This is an outstanding opportunity for our patrons to see the best Idaho has to offer in live horse racing,” said General Manager Duayne Didericksen.

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and First Lady Lori Otter will lead the post parade for the 7th race, the Idaho Cup Claiming Stakes, which is renamed the Governor’s Cup this year.

Idaho Cup Day is a way for Les Bois Park to honor the hard work and dedication of the horsemen that happens year round. “This year’s Idaho Cup features some of the best horses in the entire Northwest,” said Les Bois Park Racing Secretary Shorty Martin. “It is a tribute to Idaho owners and trainers that we are seeing the quality of this year’s entries on Saturday.”

Patrons of Idaho Cup Day can look forward to food and beverage specials as well as live music provided throughout the event. General admission is $5 and parking is free. The newly remodeled Turf Club Bar & Grill is now open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. ‘til 2:00 a.m. Reservations are available by calling (208) 258-2177 or visiting www.lesboispark.com.
