Everyone is invited to a public meeting between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, with the Board of Supervisors.

The meeting is at the Elle Town Flowing Wells Community Center, 1660 W. Ruthrauff Road (at the intersection of Romero, Wetmore, and Ruthrauff) in Tucson.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and receive input on the bond package for Rillito Park. The County plans to remove all of the barns from the stable area at the west end of the track and replace them with three soccer fields. Some of the barns will be relocated at the east end of the parking lot near the haul-in barns.

Also, a public farmers market is being planned for along the south perimeter of the main parking lot.

The Pima County Horsemen's Association (PCHA) believes that the loss of parking from these changes will impact racing and all other spectator events adversely.

In response, the PCHA has devised a plan that will save the barns and parking lot while also creating additional soccer fields.

PCHA President Pat White urges all horsemen to attend to support the PCHA plan
