Thanks to everyone who wrote to or called his or her legislators to protest the proposed rule changes that would have eliminated the possibility of conducting instant, or historical, racing in Idaho. (See the new archives for our previous eNewsletter articles for more information.)

Here's how the new wagering option "dodged the bullet: The law allowing historical horse racing changed in 2013. The rules implementing that passed the Senate.

The House State Affairs Committee voted to reject the rules, but never moved a resolution to the full House.

Because rules must be rejected by BOTH chambers, the rules stand and you can bet on historical ponies.
