Trainer Charles S. Treece is approaching a personal milestone of 1,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Heading into tonight’s (Friday’s) program, Treece was at 997 wins. He will have a chance to reach the milestone during this racing weekend at Los Alamitos.

Treece is the all-time leading Thoroughbred trainer at Los Alamitos with nearly 900 wins. He’s also saddled more than 1,000 Quarter Horse winners at Los Alamitos. Treece could pick up Thoroughbred win number 998 with either Solana Soleil or Truco Latino in this evening’s third event. Solana Soleil was the easiest of winners two races back while Truco Latino has hit the board in 14 of 30 outings.

Treece could also score in the fifth race with speedy Savy Secret. Owned by Stanley Watkins, Savy Secret has won three out of his last six outings. He figures to play a big role in the seventh race as well, with late runnings threats Rodeotime and Poppy Peak.
