Major stakes winners headline Governorís Cup Derby trials tonight, Kindergarten finalists headline Saturdayís Governorís Cup Futurity trials

La Primera Del Ano Derby winner Revv Me Up and last yearís Governorís Cup Futurity winner Secretly Hot will headline a pair of trials to the Governorís Cup Derby tonight at Los Alamitos. The horses with the 10 fastest times will advance to the Derby to be held as part of California Breeders Champions Night on Saturday, July 27.

Racing for John and Cina Sperry, Revv Me Up will be in action in the first trial at 400 yards and will make her first start since scoring a hard-fought nose victory in the La Primera on April 6. The filly Stel Corona has enjoyed a very productive career despite only breaking her maiden in the La Primera trials. During her freshman campaign, Revv Me Up qualified to the Kindergarten and Ed Burke Million futurities and prior to her La Primera final and trial wins she was second in the always competitive Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes final. Revv Me Up will now go after her third win in 11 starts when she starts from post number five in the Governorís Cup trial. Ramon Sanchez will ride her for trainer Paul Jones.

Revv Me Up will face a very talented field that includes Double Bar S Ranchís Scoop Of Sunshine and recent allowance winner Jewel First Cat SA, who races for the estate of Gianni Samaja. Scoot Of Sunshine will be making her sophomore debut while racing for the first time since a second place finish in a trial to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity last November. . Two races ago, the First Down Dash filly ran in the $1,118,000 Golden State Million Futurity after winning her futurity trial to that race. Scoop Of Sunshine will start from post six. La Primera finalist Forgotten Dynasty, Tac It Like A Champ, Wears The Pants, Dawn Of A New and Fire Boom will complete the field.

Manuel Lorenzanaís Secretly Hot will begin her quest of sweeping the Governorís Cup series by participating in the second trial. The Walk Thru Fire filly was fifth in the La Primera and earlier this season she was a solid winner in the Holiday Handicap. Jesse Godinez will saddle the talented 2012 futurity winner from post number two.

Secretly Hot will face a field that includes the three runners that she faced in the Governorís Cup last year. LJM Ranch Incís Don Loncho finished fourth in the Governorís Cup while John and Linda Cannonís Clever Me crossed the wire in fifth race. Also in action will be Double Bar S Ranchís I Go Out Walkin, who was eighth in the Governorís Cup. Bullet In The Gun, who ran fourth in the Holiday, Handicap, Our Secret Queen, You Stole My Happy, and Who Dat Dynasty will complete the field.

The trials are scheduled as the final two races on the card, at approximately 9:45 and 10:10 local time.

Antonio Floresí unbeaten Kindergarten Futurity winner Glitter In My Face and major futurity finalists Foose Is Loose, Composed Charisma and Hot Capuccino are among the 61 freshman sprinters that will be in action in the trials to the Governorís Cup Futurity on Saturday at Los Alamitos. First post for the nine-race program is 6:00 p.m. The eight Governorís Cup trials will be contested at 350 yards and consist of races 2-9.

To be ridden by Cruz Mendez for trainer Jose Flores in eighth race on the card, the Special Cartel filly Glittler In My Face is a perfect three for three on the year. She scored an impressive half-length victory to break her maiden on April 14 and then looked superb when winning her Kindergarten trial by ĺ lengths. She was outstanding once again in the $281,000 Kindergarten finale and won the 300-yard dash by a half-length. Glitter In My Face starts from post number one.

ďShe had a perfect start (in the Kindergarten),Ē Flores said. ďIt gets harder from here, but with her talent hopefully she can avoid mistakes.Ē

Glitter In My Face faces Ed Burke Million and Kindergarten Futurity finalist Foose Is Loose in the eighth race. Foose Is Loose is the only horse in these trials to have competed in those two prestigious futurities. Trained by Paul Jones and owned by Jones and Thompson Racing, the Foose colt will leave the gate from post number two in the trials. Heís finished first or second in three of his five career starts. Ramon Sanchez will ride. This trial will also feature Felix A. Gonzalezís A Mere Diva, who scored a tremendous 1Ĺ-length victory when breaking her maiden on May 25.

The second race on the card also serves as the nightís opening trial and features Pedro Barbizan Santiago Leiteís Composed Charisma, who also ran in the $1,111,000 Ed Burke Million following an impressive trial win.Bred by John Andreni, the filly by First Down Dash has a tough task ahead of her in this trial, as sheíll face daylight maiden winner Moonist and the promising runners Let It Rain and Buy It All.

Ed Allred is represented by several outstanding 2-year-olds in the trials. Allred campaigns Let It Rain in partnership with Tom Seibly and is also the sole proprietor of Ed Burke Million trial winners Well And Good and Marauder. Well And Good won her trial by a neck and just missed qualifying by 3/100ths of a second. Trained by Scott Willoughby, sheíll be in action in the fifth trial, which is the sixth race on the card. Marauder won her Ed Burke Million trial by a head and will now headline the fourth trial, which is the fifth race on the card. Allred will also send out impressive maiden winners Trust Me, Up For It, Hot To Go, Sadie Sis, Kittys Fire, More Than Wild plus two other runners.

Other top runners in the Governorís Cup trials include Jose Benavides and Guillermo Moralesí Hot Capuccino, who finished third in the Kindergarten Futurity. The Walk Thru Fire filly will be in action in the second trial (race number three) against impressive maiden winner Chalalita and the aforementioned winners Trust Me and More Than Wild.

Balgo Racing Team, Incís Nefertity, who posted a solid ĺ-length win, will be in action in the third trial (race number four) while making only her second career start. Morales will saddle the TR Dasher filly, who is a half sister to multiple stakes winner Feature Malinche. Nefertity will face the likes of Ed Burke Million trial winner Khaleesie, who races for Dunn Ranch, Ltd., and Mi Buenaventura, who posted a solid second place finish in a maiden outing on June 7.

Marauder and Kittys Fire will be in action in the next trial and heíll face Kindergarten trial winner Maybach and maiden winners Joys Secret and Stel Hawk. Trial number five (race six) will include Steve Burnsí Ed Burke Million trial runner-up Colder Weather plus maiden winners Foose Cash Sr, who races for the partnership of San Gregorio Racing Stables, La Presita LLC and J. & G. De La Torre, and Double Bar S Ranchís Shestheonethaiwant. Flying L Ranchís Kindergarten trial runner-up Flying Top Fueler and Anna MacPhersonís Miner Sam are among those in the sixth trial (race seven) while the eighth and final trial (race nine) will include Parsons Ranchís No Mas Secretos, who in his trial race finished second to eventual Ed Burke Million winner Five Bar Cartel.

Newcomer Looking For Roni, who arrives having both of his career starts while at Dixie Downs. AQRA Spring Futurity winner Phone Tag and recent winner Maddie Ross will also participate in this trial event.
