AUBURN, WASH. - The 70th running of the $250,000 Longacres Mile
highlights the 2005 Emerald Downs stakes schedule.

The Grade III Mile, one of the most prestigious and oldest races on the
West Coast, will go postward on Sunday, Aug. 21. The Longacres Mile is
one of 36 stakes races during the 2005 Emerald Downs' meeting.

"This stakes schedule will showcase the best Thoroughbreds in the
Northwest," Emerald Downs' Director of Racing Paul Ryneveld said.
"The Mile and Washington Cup Day will once again be the highlight
of our meet, but we have also added several additional big days of
racing to this year's stakes schedule like Mile Preview Day and an
improved Oaks Day. In addition, the extended meet allowed us to push
back our 2-year-old stakes schedule, which will give more young horses
time to develop prior to the juvenile championship on Oct. 15."

Longacres Mile Preview Day will take place on July 31 and feature the
runnings of the $100,000 Mt. Rainier Breeders' Cup and the 66th
running of the Governor's Handicap.

This year will also mark the biggest Washington Oaks Day in history as
Saturday, Aug. 20 will feature a trio of stakes races, headlined by the
26th running of the $100,000 Washington Breeders' Cup Oaks. The day
will also see the Strong Ruler and Knights Choice Stakes go postward.

Washington Cup III will be on Sunday, Oct. 2. The day features seven
stakes races restricted to Washington-breds, including the 38th running
of the Belle Roberts and the 63rd running of the Muckleshoot Tribal
Classic, worth a total of $300,000 in purses.

Additional key 2005 stakes races include $75,000 Barbara Shinpoch
Stakes on Sept. 5, the $100,000 Emerald Breeders' Cup Derby on Sept.
11 and the $100,000 Gottstein Futurity on Nov. 15

Opening Day for the 101-day 2005 meeting is Friday, April 15. Closing
Day is Monday, Oct. 16. Emerald Downs currently offers multi-card
