Derby stuff . . . but don’t forget to bet your local races!

May 3, 2013     E-mail this page to a friend!

Post times are adjusted all over TRJ territory to make room for wagering on the Kentucky Derby. Check the post times at your track to make sure you don't miss any of the local action.

At Turf Paradise, for example, gates open at 7:15 a.m. so that patrons can wager on the Derby undercard. If you’re headed for TuP, beware that Derby Day is SRO, as all of their Derby packages sold out early: the Directors Suite Buffet, the Turf Club Buffet, the Clubhouse Buffet, the Players’ Club Buffet, and the Party on the Rail all sold out. Should be quite the wild scene there!

If your Derby party is at your home, don’t forget to print out Ryan Roshau’s Derby Superboard—this full-color legal-size page has all the basics, and what make it Super is the depictions of jockey’s silks so you can tell who’s who once the race begins. Get the Superboard here: http://www.theracingjournal.com/news/file.php?form_id=619.

Don’t forget to bet your local races! There are big fields and big races all over TRJ territory. Check the “Upcoming stakes and trials” list.

Good luck!
