Live coverage of the Road to the Kentucky Derby™, a series of major prep races for the 2013 Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands, continues this Saturday, 4:00-5:30 p.m. Mountain Time on NBC Sports Network with the Santa Anita Derby from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, and the Wood Memorial from Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York. The Road to the Kentucky Derby™ is a collaboration of The Jockey Club and the NBC Sports Group.

Laffit Pincay III hosts NBC Sports Network’s coverage this Saturday from Santa Anita. He is joined by analyst Randy Moss, reporters Donna Brothers, and HRTV’s Christina Blacker. Maggie Wolfendale, in-house analyst for NYRA, reports on the Wood Memorial from Aqueduct.

In addition to the two graded stakes races, NBC Sports Network coverage includes a feature on Hall-of-Fame jockey and long-time NBC horse racing analyst Gary Stevens, who returned to racing earlier this year after a seven-year absence, as he points towards his first Kentucky Derby since 2005.

Saturday’s races fall into the highest tier on Churchill Downs’ new points system to determine starters for the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4. The points system features 36 stakes races overall and 17 marquee events for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds that comprise a 10-week run up to the first Saturday in May.
