With Mario Gutierrez returning to Hastings Racecourse on Monday, July 2, to ride St Liams Halo in the $50,000 Lieutenant Governors’ Handicap, Raj Mutti, Regional General Manager of BC Racing, says it could create the largest crowd in the 123-year history of Hastings. “We attracted crowds of close to 14,000 for his amazing run at the Triple Crown and that was to watch him on the big screen by satellite. Now our fans can come out and support Mario in person.”

Howard Blank, VP Great Canadian Gaming, adds: “The atmosphere will be electric and the fun contagious as Hastings Racecourse welcomes home Mario to ride for the first time in Vancouver following his outstanding successes on the world racing stage.”

Also on the July 2 Canada Day celebration card is the $50,000 Chris Loseth Handicap and a $25,000-guaranteed Pick-4 on the last four races. There will be live music by March Hare and the Family Zone will be in full swing from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m Pacific Time (PT). As always, there is no admission charge at Hastings Racecourse.

First post on July 2 is at 1:50 p.m. PT.
