AB What A Runner set for comeback

Los Alamitos Racecourse, Cypress, CA--- Dennie and Kris Hillís millionaire mare AB What A Runner is set to make her first start since September 25 in the Grade 1 $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap on Saturday, January 8 at Los Alamitos.

AB What A Runner won the Charger Bar last season Ė her only victory in three outings in Orange County. Her campaign came to a premature end when she suffered a season ending injury in Septemberís Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap. The 5-year-old mare now appears ready to defend her Charger Bar title after looking sharp in a couple of works. The Royal Quick Dash mare worked 350 yards in :18.30 on December 21 before posting a 220-yard turn and work under the lights Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Brett Vickery, AB What A Runner will enter the Charger Bar with a record of 11 wins from 15 starts and earnings of $1,342,380. AB What A Runnerís record includes victories in the Mildred Vessels and Los Alamitos Derby in 2003 and All American Futurity in 2002.

Grade 1 stakes winners Prima LD, Mini Rock and Classic Sassy Chic have also been nominated to the 400-yard Charger Bar. Grade 2 winners Enjoy The Moment and Sammies White Chick and overnight handicap winners Impeccable Timing and Apollos Favorite have also been nominated. Babe On The Fly, Strawberry Dash and Make It Work, the distaffers with a lot of experience running in Grade 1 stakes races complete the list of nominations.
