Kennewick, Washington, is the place to be this weekend, as Sun Downs hosts another exciting weekend of live race action. TRJ—The Racing Journal will be on hand for the action, so stop by our table and say "hello"!

Saturday's card features 10 races, including two trials for the AQHA Maiden Challenge and and another pair for the AQHA Pfizer Starter Allowance Challenge. Three Thoroughbred 4-furlongs sprints are pepper the opening-day card, and the final and feature race, the Bookenoogen Memorial Stakes for 3-and-up Quarter Horses, continues a racing tradition that Northwest horsemen look forward to every year.

Sunday's nine races include four trials for the rich Pot O' Gold Futurity, sponsored by the Northern Racing Quarter Horse Association (NRQHA). The final for that race is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, which is also closing day of the 2012 Sun Downs season.

The weatherman has promised one of the finest opening-weekend forecasts in ever, with temperatures in the mid-70šs on Saturday and mid-80šs on Sunday. First post time both days is 1:30 p.m.
