Rillito Park heads into closing weekend with full fields (again) and a fabulous forecast (again)

When the forecasts say temps in the low 80s, you might think about heading out to the track. Or when the programs say the gates are 98% full, you might think about heading out to the track.

When you get both, you're talking about Rillito Park's this weekend, closing weekend of their 2012 season.

The eight-horse gate is full for eight races out of nine on Saturday, 70 horses for 72 available slots. Sunday looks even better, with 10 races and 79 horses for 80 slots.

The feature race on Saturday is the Howard and Charlotte King Memorial, with Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses going 870 yards for a $3,500 purse. Only #1 Dr Dizzle and and #4 Pb Mr Phil have won over the Rillito Park surface this season.

Sunday sees co-features Rillito Park Budweiser Mile ($7.5K, race 8), Rukin Jelks Quarter Horse Stakes ($25K purse), and two divisions of the winner-take-all Hasta La Vista PCHA Shootout ($18K purse, race 7, and $20.5K, race 10).
