Sweetwater Downs opens with trials to rich futurity

Hezdashinginthedark, a 2-year-old colt bred at Bosen Land & Livestock, is the fastest qualifier to the $50,000 (estimated) Sweetwater Futurity on September 4 at Sweetwater Downs.

The August 20 program was the first live racing at the Rock Springs, Wyoming, race track since 1993 and the first live racing in the state of Wyoming since 2009.

Trained by Ross Brown and ridden by Paul Greene for owners Brown and Elsha McGarry, Hezdashinginthedark covered the 350 yards in :17.686 to win the third of eight trials on by a neck over Dash To Fun. Dash To Fun posted the second-fastest time—:17.732.

Hezdashinginthedark, by Darkelly out of Sheza Dashing Angel (by Vital Sign) was seen most recently finishing fourth in the $33K Hawthorne Futurity at Sandy Downs, just a length behind winner Wayward Wings.

Qualifiers to the Sweetwater Futurity came from of six of the eight trial races. Horses with the next ten-best times are eligible for the Sweetwater Futurity Consolation: Crue Zen Jewel (:17.903), Lds Prince William (:17.907), Movin Sally (:17.932), Emw Takeittothelimit (:17.933), Lk Jessie Lane (:17.963), Bridger Hawk (:18.031), Bh Best Of Fame (:18.039), Fury Of Cupid (:18.050), Bk Reysha (:18.052), and Siler Streak (:18.085).
