The 2011 Thoroughbred racing season at Hastings Park is at the half-way mark. What remains is a full itinerary of major stakes over the next 12 weeks.

It begins today with two Canada Day features on a nine-race Friday afternoon card: The Lt. Governors and The Chris Loseth.

The 51st running of the Lt. Governors is for 3-year-olds and up while the Chris Loseth is for 3-year-olds whose owners and trainers will have an eye on the crown jewel of the Hastings season: the $200,000 BC Derby on September 11.

All three of the live racing days on this Canada Day Holiday Weekend are 1:50 p.m. starts. The Canada Day celebrations include live music by Dr. Strangelove, a Family Zone, and a chance to win a weekend trip to Predator Ridge.
