Les Bois Park granted race days, license

Over objections about racing dates by representatives from Sandy Downs and Rupert Downs, the Idaho State Racing Commission voted today to grant the 15 race days requested by Treasure Valley Racing to Les Bois Park. The approved days are July 2, 4, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30; and August 3, 6, 10, 12, and 13.

The dates were in question because eight of the requested dates conflict with racing dates already granted to eastern Idaho tracks. July 2, 4, and 9 conflict with Rupert Downs. July 9, 23, and 30 conflict with Sandy Downs. And August 6 and 13 conflict with Oneida County Fair in Malad, Idaho. The biggest potential problem day appears to be July 9, when Les Bois Park, Rupert Downs, and Sandy Downs are all running. Not only that, but the Bitterroot Futurity trials are scheduled for July 9 at Les Bois Park, the same day as trials for several futurities and derbies at Sandy Downs.

Commissioner Paul Schneider stated the importance of opening Les Bois Park. Commissioner Bosen agreed, and said that the Commission has enough resources to handle three tracks racing on the same day.

The vote to grant dates was unanimous. The votes to grant licenses for live and simulcast wagering were also unanimously in favor.
