Race office opens on Monday at Great Falls

The late entry fee for the Charles Russell Derby at Great Falls has been reduced to a total of $750 due at time of entry. Trials for the 300 yard event will be conducted on Friday, July 23 with horses passing the entry box on Tuesday, July 20. The final is scheduled for July 31. Three-year-olds that have not been nominated or sustained may enter the trials for $750 while horses that have made payments may enter for $200.

“We wanted to give owners an opportunity to bring their horses to Montana and run without having to pay a large penalty,” explained racing secretary John Petti.

The race office at Great Falls opens on Monday, July 19. Montana Downs is conducting racing at Great Falls for two weekends: July 23-25 and July 30-August 1.
