Bitterroot hopefuls stuff the entry box

The 2010 Bitterroot Futurity could be a showdown of regional futurity winners, as Hadtobeawinner, Here Come The Budder, and Br Especially Fine, winners of the Dixie Downs Futurity, the Pot O' Gold Futurity, and the Gem County Futurity, respectively, were all entered in the Bitterroot Futurity trials, which take place on Saturday, May 8.

Overall, 79 2-year-olds are set to run in nine trials, races 3 through 11, for an outstanding 8.78 horses-per-trial average. In addition to the three futurity winners, there are ten others who have already won a race this spring. Listed below are all of the winners:

 • Hawthorne Hawk at Sun Downs (entered in race 3 on Saturday)
 • Classic Blush at Los Alamitos (race 6)
 • Ms Fancy Bug at Gem County (race 6)
 • Much Authority at Sun Downs (race 7)
 • Bankas Image at Sun Downs (race 8)
 • Kipas Dash at Sun Downs (race 8)
 • Shake De Bank at Sun Downs (race 8)
 • Hadtobeawinner at Dixie Downs (race 8)
 • Dashing Corona at Dixie Downs (race 9)
 • Br Especially Fine at Gem County (race 9)
 • Here Come The Budder at Sun Downs (race 10)
 • Gigaleader at Dixie Downs (race 10)
 • Lil Bitts A Dash at Dixie Downs (race 11)

Also noteworthy:

Jockey Jay Conklin returns to Idaho from Los Alamitos to ride in seven of the nine futurity trials.

Trainer Jim Hanson brings four horses to the trials off recent races at Los Alamitos.

Trainer Ron Moosman, who pulled off the rare Bitterroot Futurity/Bitterroot Derby double in 2009, has six horses entered (races 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11). Brett Anderson has the mount on each.
