Eight outstanding horses headed by the Janet McKinnerney's millionaire Tres Passes, current 330-yard track record holder Pappyscoronalilbro, and stakes winners Fire Is On, Merridoc Hawk, and A Mere Splash will clash in a fiery running of the $25,000 Kaweah Bar Handicap on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

All eyes will be on Tres Passes in the 350-yard Kaweah Bar, as the 2008 PCQHRA Horse of the Year returns to action after struggling mightily in four of his last five starts. The winner of the Golden State Million Futurity and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity has not visited the winner's circle since August of 2009. Alejandro Luna gets the call aboard Tres Passes for the first time.

Meanwhile, the now 6-year-old Pappyscoronalilbro has won three of his last seven starts and finished in the money in every single one of those outings. Owned by Ramiro Leira and trained by Lissette Hernandez, Pappyscoronalilbro just missed winning the Katella Handicap last month and before that he smashed the 330-yard track record when beating $50,000 claimers in a time of :16.25. Merridoc Hawk will look to become the meet's first three-time stakes winner following successes in the Flare For Toby and Florentine handicaps. A Mere Splash is one to watch as he makes his 2010 debut after facing Grade 1 runners all of last year. Freaky's stablemate Tough To Be Humble is another big time contender after a recent allowance win.
