Streakin Cherry out of the Champion of Champions

The connections of Refrigerator Handicap winner Streakin Cherry have officially declined the invitation to this year's $750,000 Champion of Champions. Officials at Los Alamitos were notified of Streakin Cherry's defection via mail on Friday morning, November 20. The deletion of Streakin Cherry from contention means that there are now four Champion of Champions berths up for grabs in tonight's Z. Wayne Griffin Director Trials to be held at 400 yards. The Z. Wayne Griffin will feature a full field of 10 horses headed by two-time Champion of Champions runner-up Little Bit Of Baja and multiple Grade 1 stakes placed runner Hawk In The City.

The top four finishers in tonight's Z. Wayne Griffin will qualify to the 440-yard Grade 1 Champion of Champions to be held on December 12. In the event that there is a dead-heat for fourth place, there will be a shake to determine the qualifier. If an additional berth opens up in the days leading up to the Champion of Champions then the fifth place finisher in the Z. Wayne Griffin will receive the berth.

The field to the Z. Wayne Griffin from the rail out: Little Bit Of Baja, Bannow Bay, Masters Call, Frankie Shoots, Hawk In The City, Stylish Jess Br, My Lady First, Answer The Dream, Easy Dashin Sixes, and JP Rhythm.

As it stands right now, the following horses are expected to run having already earned a berth to the December 12 Champion of Champions: Freaky, Jess You And I, Foose, Fighter On Fire, Separate Bet, and Inseperable.
