The action will be fast and furious this weekend at Wyoming Downs with trials for six stakes races and three overnight stakes on tap.

Heading the Friday afternoon card will be the trials for the prestigious Silver Dollar Futurity, where 40 2-year-olds will be vying for the ten spots in the finals.

Utah Classic Futurity winner Bennys A Jet and Rocky Mountain Futurity winner Auto Rotate hit the track in the second of four trials that lead off the card.

Also on Friday's schedule are trials for the Bayer Legend Northwest Derby Championship and the Bank of America Northwest Challenge Championship.

Headlining the Derby trials will be stakes winners Sum Special Hum (2008 Pot of Gold Futurity), Full Boat (2009 Rocky Mountain Derby), SR Ocean Dream (2009 Bitterroot Derby) along with stakes placed runners To Shay, Rockin Rylee, Timberman Iona Corona, Tisa Dream Runne and Saving Faith.

The Championship trials for older horses feature Honor Me Good—winner of the Fort Dodge Claiming Challenge Championship at Evangeline Downs in 2008—Snip N Dale, JW A Royal Trip and Gomez Palacio. All four horses have earned in excess of $60,000 and have solid stakes credentials.

On Saturday, the action will really heat up as the day kicks off with two trials for the Silver Dollar Derby, followed by the Bear River Stakes at 870 yards.

In the Bear River Stakes, scheduled as a prep for the upcoming Red Cell Northwest Distance Challenge Championship in two weeks, longtime favorite Runbyu makes his 2009 Wyoming Downs debut.

Forty seven fleet 2-year-olds will vie for the final gate in the John Deere Northwest Juvenile Challenge trials. The finals, to be held in two weeks, will likely have a purse nearing $70,000.

Heading the list of entrants is Hoist Mission, winner of the 2009 Bitterroot Futurity on May 31 at Pocatello Downs. Hoist Mission hails from the barn of Ron Moosman, and will have regular jockey Bret Anderson aboard.

Princess of Zoom, winner of the Pot O Gold Futurity in April at Sun Downs is another with a big chance in the trials. Berkley Packer will ride for trainer Monty Arrossa on Saturday.

Brisant is another undefeated youngster with great credentials, having won the 2009 Beehive Futurity for trainer Jay Pitcher and regular pilot Dirk Crane. This son of Brimmerton has earned $26,876 for his two wins and has posted a speed index of 108.

In the 12th of 13 races on Saturday afternoon is a full field of Thoroughbreds in the annual Evanston Speed Handicap at 4 furlongs. After that, the Joe Joyce/Independence Day Handicap will be renewed at 7 furlongs.

First post on both days will be 1:05 pm.
