Great racing and Fathers' Day specials abound around TRJ—The Racing Journal territory. Here are some of our favorites:

Jerome County: 69 horses entered for nine races (average 7.67 per race; 8-horse gate), more than $50,000 in purses, including the $20K Dutch Masters III Futurity.

Grants Pass Downs: 91 horses entered for 12 races (average 7.58 per race; 8-horse gate), including a mulligan on the Daily Courier Inaugural Handicap, which was rained out last Saturday. At 5 furlongs, the Daily Courier features a compact field of five, three of which—Direct Connect, Stella's Posada, and TJ's Express—boast their most recent races at Golden Gate Fields. They'll take on On The Hill, claimed for $3,500K at Emerald Downs on June 4, and Rockin Roman, second in last year's $26,500 Elko Derby. Free admission for Dads, and the popular Win/Place/Show $200 giveaway after the ninth race.

Emerald Downs: Fathers' Day cap giveaway—fans receive a free cap with paid admission. First of many Sunday Family Fun Days. $50K feature race— the Budweiser-Emerald Handicap.

Canterbury Park: Lottery Mug & Scratch Ticket Giveaway to the first 5,000 paid admissions, Weiner Dog Races, Pepsi Family Day activities—pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting for the kids—plus kids "Race the Track" following live racing. Also, the famed Father's Day Fish Fry for just $9.95 includes the fish (of course), coleslaw, fried potatoes, baked beans, marble rye bread, and lemonade, ice tea, or coffee. (No reservations needed; Walk up service in the Ubetcha Area.) $35K Shot Of Gold Stakes for Thoroughbreds and $15K Minnesota Stallion Breeders' Quarter Horse Futurity.

Chippewa Downs: 74 horses in ten races (average 7.4 per race; 8-horse gate), including four stakes races: Chippewa Downs Open Quarter Horse Stakes, Chippewa Downs Open Thoroughbred Stakes, Grass Roots Futurity, and the Cowboy Bob Brehm Memorial.

State Fair Park, Lincoln: Fathers' Day cap giveaway—first 500 Dads receive a free cap with paid admission.

So get out to the track with your Dad this Sunday . . . if you can wait that long, that is.
