The American Quarter Horse Association Racing Council and Executive Committee said today that the scheduled Racing Champions Announcements slated for Wednesday, January 14, have been postponed as a result of the New Mexico Racing Commission stewards ruling regarding the 2008 All-American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs.

Rulings issued yesterday by the NMRC stewards have been appealed, and a stay pending the outcome of these appeals has been granted by the commission. Stewards ruled that Stolis Winner shall be disqualified from his All-American Futurity win and placed last.

According to NMRC Executive Director Julian Luna, the disposition of the win and purse remain status quo pending the final outcome of the appeal and the decision of the commission. No indication of how long the appeal process could take was given.

Racing Council and Executive Committee members are hopeful this matter will be quickly resolved with NMRC. AQHA will be contacting the connections of horses on the champions ballots.
