June 2, 2008     E-mail this page to a friend!

A juried art show that was a popular event at the former WTBA Sales Pavilion at Longacres for sixteen years has been resurrected through the efforts of the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association (WTBA) and Emerald Downs.

The purpose of the show is to promote the horse and the horse-racing industry, as well as to support the equine artist. The show offers over $5,000 in prize money, $1,000 of which is dedicated to youth categories. It will be judged by a panel of distinguished artists and/or other knowledgeable individuals.

The show and sale will be open for public viewing on the track level at Emerald Downs from Thursday, July 10, through Sunday, July 13, 2008, during racing hours.

Judging will take place on Wednesday, July 9. There will be a preview party and reception on the evening of July 9 at 7 p.m. All artists and their guests are invited to attend.

For entry criteria, including eligibility, fees, and deadlines, and a list of awards, artists should visit http://www.washingtonthoroughbred.com/ArtShow/ArtProsp.htm or call

Beginning in 2005, the art show moved under the auspices of the Washington Thoroughbred Foundation (WTF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and, as such, all sponsorships and/or other donations made to the art show are tax-deductible.
