Canterbury Park Stall Applications Close April 1

Stall applications for the 67-day Canterbury Park meet, which begins on Saturday, May 3, are due in the racing office no later than April 1. Daily purse distribution will average $150,000. The Thoroughbred stakes schedule exceeds $2 million and is highlighted by the $100,000 Lady Canterbury Breeders’ Cup Stakes at one mile on the turf and the $600,000 Claiming Crown, a seven-race event for racing’s “blue collar” horses, on August 2. The mixed quarter horse and Thoroughbred portion of the meet begins on May 24 and the quarter horse stakes schedule offers five graded races and more than $325,000 in purses.

Canterbury Park, located in suburban Minneapolis has a one-mile dirt oval that accommodates race distances for Thoroughbreds ranging from 3½ furlongs to a mile and an eighth. The seven-furlong turf course is used extensively, offering an opportunity for maidens, low level claimers, allowance and stakes horses to race on a turf course that has been heralded throughout the Midwest.
